You’ve gained an understanding of what spiritual formation encompasses and discovered how other churches are pursuing it. Now it’s time for you to chart next steps and grow this dimension in your own church.

In the first session, David Kinnaman introduced the spiritual formation dimension as defined by Barna Group’s research: This dimension looks at how a church partners with congregants in growing their faith.

In the second session, Jay Kim—lead pastor at Westgate Church in Silicon Valley, CA—shared what spiritual formation means to him and his congregation. Kim explained how spiritual formation is the heartbeat of his church, and the many ways that it's impacted not just congregants, but also the local community.
