This week’s Barna Minute reveals what unchurched Americans in metro areas think about their local churches.
In Barna’s new report, Inside the Urban Church, the reputation of local churches in metro areas could appropriately be described as mixed amongst the unchurched, though positive opinions do come out on top.
For instance, unchurched metro adults tend to describe churches in their community as friendly (51%) and welcoming (46%), although hypocritical (30%) and closed-minded (27%) follow closely behind. Some other positive descriptions include generous (30%), sincere (29%) and inclusive (25%), alongside lower percentages of negative opinions that include insincere (18%), politically-driven (18%) and exclusive (17%).
