This week in The Barna Minute, we’re looking at whether Christian parents are concerned that their children may leave the faith. We’ll also be looking at data for all U.S. parents, as well as non-Christian parents, to uncover how each feels about their children staying true to the faith they’re raised in.
Looking first at all U.S. adults, data show that roughly two in five (38%) are very concerned that their children will not stay true to their spiritual faith. Another three in 10 (32%) are at least somewhat concerned about this. For Christian parents, the percentage of those very concerned increases to 43 percent, while 33 percent say they are somewhat concerned. While over half of non-Christian parents (55%) are at least somewhat concerned about this, they are significantly less likely than Christian parents to say they are very concerned about their children leaving their faith (26% vs. 43%).
