This week in The Barna Minute, we’re taking a look at how younger churchgoers in Columbus have engaged in church—both in-person and digitally—during the pandemic.
The landscape of church engagement opportunities changed drastically with the onset of the pandemic, introducing a mix of both non-traditional and traditional experiences to engage churchgoers. When looking specifically at Columbus Millennials’ engagement in church during the last year and a half, data show that after not having engaged in any way (30%), Millennials lean toward digital engagement (digital spiritual formation on my own 27%, digital prayer experiences 20% and volunteering online with the church (17%). However, 18 percent of Columbus Millennials' engage in-person by volunteering in the community through church efforts.
