This week’s episode explores new data from Barna’s recent study on generosity to discover Americans’ preferences for donating money.
In Barna’s newest report, Meet the Digital Donor, U.S. adults indicate that giving online is preferred to in-person cash gifts (28% vs. 22%). Preference for a range of digital giving avenues such as websites, social media, apps, automated withdrawals and so on, show that online tools have a distinct edge over more analog approaches like cash or checks, whether given in person or sent through the mail.
While passing the plate and “giving boxes in the back” have had their place in churches, QR codes and digital tools are beginning to take the lead.
