This week’s Barna Minute looks at responses from mothers and pastors to see how often the church provides specific resources to moms.
Barna’s upcoming report, Motherhood Today, reveals there’s room for improvement when it comes to the frequency of church-provided resources for mothers. Nearly half of Christian mothers (47%) say their church never offers them mom-specific resources. Just under three in 10 Christian moms (28%) say their church provides them with materials specifically designed to support them as moms at least monthly (13% weekly, 15% monthly). Another 11 percent say this happens every three to six months, while 14 percent say it happens less often than that.
Pastors offer similar responses to the same question, though a gap arises among those who say their church “never” offers resources specifically for mothers. While 47 percent of moms say this is the case, only 38 percent of pastors agree. Twenty-two percent of pastors state their church provides helpful resources to moms at least monthly, while 18 percent say this happens every three to six months. Just under one in four (23%) says this happens less often than every six months.
