Chapter Three: What Could Be | Barna Group

So where does this research leave ministry leaders and churches who want to support Gen Z as they engage in being a faithful witness in the world?

How can older generations partner with the next generation in reviving evangelism?

Here’s what we now know:

Teens have strong feelings against specific evangelistic language and persuasive practices. Instead, they lean toward actions speaking louder than words, with non-Christians feeling more comfortable talking about Christianity when their conversation partner listens without judgment and doesn’t force them to draw a conclusion.

In turn, Christian Gen Z also seem to be very aware and accommodating of what non-Christians might prefer or feel in faith conversations. Gen Z feel relatively calm and peaceful when talking about their faith with others, even if it can also be awkward at times.
