This week’s Barna Minute looks at how women and men define "true generosity."
In Barna’s report, The Impact of Women, when asked to select descriptions of “true generosity,” women’s responses stand out from men’s in a few ways, often because of an emphasis on the other person or party.
About one-third of women say true generosity is always “selfless” (36% vs. 29% of men) and “driven by compassion” (34% vs. 27%). Women also tend to see true generosity as always “impactful for the giver” (29% vs. 24%), an interesting peek into the reward they find in generosity and their awareness of the connection between giver and receiver. Importantly, women are also more likely than men to see true generosity as always in “response to Christ’s love” (33% vs. 24%).
